Welcome to AKA Comm Solutions!
AKA Comm Solutions provides capital markets language intelligence for investors following Brazilian public companies, whether they are traded on the NYSE or on B3.
Our work focuses on a specific problem: when Brazilian earnings calls are conducted in Portuguese, the public English record may not fully capture what management actually said.
For investors relying on English transcripts, simultaneous interpretation, transcript feeds, or delayed translated materials, that can create an information gap.
AKA Comm Solutions exists to bridge and close that gap.
Brazil's largest companies are followed worldwide, held in emerging-markets and Latin America portfolios, and traded across continents. Their earnings calls, though, are usually given in Portuguese — and the English a foreign investor can act on arrives in one of two forms, neither of them both faithful and immediate.
When a company offers live English audio, it is simultaneous interpretation: timely, but produced in real time, lossy, and sometimes published unchanged as the official transcript. When a company instead transcribes the Portuguese and translates it with care, the result tends to be faithful, but it reaches the IR website a day or two later, after the window in which the market priced the quarter. The investor is left choosing between English that is fast but incomplete and English that is presumably reliable but late. The one thing that would resolve it (the Portuguese of the call itself) is the one language they cannot read.
AKA Comm Solutions seeks to close that gap, and to do it on one principle: every finding is anchored to the Portuguese source and shown beside the English the market had, so the work can be checked rather than taken on faith. We do not grade translation quality. We recover the decision-relevant content — i.e., the qualifier that was dropped, the conditional that was firmed, the emphasis that was flattened, etc. — and we deliver it within 24 hours of the call, before the company's own faithful English typically appears.
Our coverage centers on Brazil's most widely held listed companies, and our briefs serve holders of either listing: the ADR on the NYSE or the local shares on B3. It is the same call, the same management, and the same gap, whichever ticker you own.
What slips through can be the difference between conviction and caution on a name, the detail that reprices a quarter. The alpha in a Brazilian earnings call often hides in exactly what the English record missed or in the hours before it catches up. We exist so that the language is never the reason it passes you by.
Who Produces the Briefs
AKA Comm Solutions was founded by Andre Luis Akamine, a Brazilian attorney, journalist, and bilingual financial-communications specialist, native in Portuguese and at full professional proficiency in English. For more than fifteen years he has worked the precise seam this firm addresses: the distance between what Brazilian financial language says at source and how it reaches international markets in English.
He has done this from inside the sell-side. As Research Editor at Itaú Corretora and Head of Editing at Votorantim Corretora, he guarded the accuracy of English-language equity, fixed-income, and economic research, and led Votorantim's shift from Portuguese into English coverage. He still advises and produces corporate communications for major Brazilian and international institutions.
A law degree from one of Brazil's top law schools, PUC-SP, and admission to the Brazilian Bar (OAB), with a practice centered on tax and corporate law, trained him to read governance and capital-allocation language for what it commits a company to. Investigative journalism, from Hofstra University to NBC News, trained him to dig through detail for what was left out. Both are what a Quarterly Earnings Gap Brief runs on.
The clearest way to understand the work is to see it.
